About the Thyroid

Your thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland in the front of your neck. The thyroid "runs" your body's metabolism. You can think of it as the gas pedal of your body. It makes things "go". Every cell in your body has a receptor for thyroid hormones. Thyroid hormone directly effects your brain, GI tract, bone system, cardiovascular metabolism, red blood cell metabolism, gall bladder/liver function, glucose metabolism, lipid/cholesterol metabolism, steroid hormone production, protein metabolism, and of course, body temperature regulation. So you can see that a poorly functioning thyroid can cause many things to go wrong in the body and produce many symptoms.

Take the Thyroid Quiz to see if you may have

a thyroid problem.
